"SOLD"
Age: Mid-Late Edo period.
Remarks: This is a rare original condition item we would consider of museum quality. Truly one of the most spectacular original period Jinbaori we have ever had available. This piece was obviously custom made for a very important high ranking Samurai or Daimyo. This museum quality piece speaks volumes about the tailoring ability of the craftsman who made it. Only the finest of materials were used both domestic and imported. The mon is of the Mokko style. It was used primarily among the Asakura and Oda Clans. As is usual for surcoats, the armholes are very deep to allow the garment to be worn over armor; at the back is a slit for ease in sitting or riding a horse. This is a very fine Daimyo grade example of a period Jinbaori.
