Japanese Samurai Nodowa

"SOLD" with thanks.

Age: Mid Edo period. Circa 1650

Remarks: A very nice Nodowa. These were designed to protect the neck and upper chest. The brown lacquered heavy iron neck ring has hinges on either side. The lacing is in excellent condition. The two lame yodare-kake is connected by egawa leather laced with silk binding. Nodowa were very common on early Edo Armor and they were worn outside the Do and under the Menpo. Original condition. This would make an excellent addition to any samurai armor collection.
