Historical:
Kabuto: A
Tetsu Urushi Naga Eboshi Kawari Kabuto with a rare red-orange textured lacquer finish. The Eboshi style originated with the design of cloth caps worn by members of the Imperial Court. This large version was made famous by Kato Kiyomasa. This large style with the original lacquer finish is extremely rare. Most other examples of this type are made of leather with this one being made of iron.
Men-Yoroi: A well crafted ressei style menpo finished in red lacquer. Odome posts set into both sides of the menpo. Original lacquer finish is in very good condition with a repair to the lacquer on both sides of the menpo near the ear portion.The yodare-kake is laced in the same multi-colored pattern that matches the shikoro of the Kabuto. Most of the boar hair moustache is still intact.
Dou: A beautiful and outstanding example of a Haramaki Dou complete with its original sei-ita back plate. The Dou has been laced in a multi-colored pattern reserved for very high ranking Samurai. The upper torso parts have been finished in stenciled egawa leather and finished with gilded fukurin moldings. There is a significant amount of discoloration on the lacing due to age. This Dou was clearly worn and used frequently and this fact confirms its authenticity. Most of the interior leather ties are still present. A large gilded metal kiri-tetsu sei-kan swivel ring has an orange agemaki bow attached. The gessan is original to this Dou and features a kamon of a Daimyo family.
