Remarks: A rare signed Kabuto by the famous smith Unkai Mitsuhisa. This Kabuto has features associated with the craftsmen of the Haruta school in the Kaga region. This is validated by the signature and the style of shikoro. Unkai Mitsuhisa is a highly rated smith making this item very important. Mitsuhisa, a Jo Jo I graded smith, was one of the top 10% of graded smiths in Japan who were recognized has having been exceptional talented. Only three smiths are considered above this grade, being recognized as Sai Jo I ranked katchu-shi. An 8 plate suji bachi with hoshi and shinodare. The tehen and shinodare are covered in sawari silver. This item was purchased from a family collection in Japan.
