Age: Early Edo Period. Circa 1590-1610
Remarks: An original matched set. The Hachi has 52 expertly crafted plates. An extensive amount of technical skill and patience was required to create this Hachi. The style of rivet with zaboshi washers and the number of plates makes this a rare Kabuto. This Kabuto has two family crests on the fukigaeshi. One is of the Ikeda Clan. Our research indicates this Kabuto belonged to a 1st son of a Damiyo of the Ikeda Clan. Specifically the opposing Kocho or butterflys on each fukigaeshi belonged to a specific Daimyo from Bitchu named Ikeda Kamogata. The other crest belongs to the Shimada Daimyo Clan. This is the only 52 plate matched set we have ever had.
