Age: Early Edo period (Circa 1600)
Provenance: The Shogun Art Collection
Remarks: An extraordinary matched Kabuto and Menpo set made of lacquered iron. The hachi is partially covered with animal hair. This was not only to distinguish the Kabuto from others but also served a practical purpose to protect the hachi from adverse weather. Unique eyebrows are made of the same animal hair along with the moustache on the Menpo.
This is a set unlike any we have ever offered and would make a fine addition to any collection
