Remarks: Pierced fukigaeshi and silver inlaid dragons hightlight this remarkable Saika Kabuto. The legend goes that the armor smiths of the town of Saika were inspired by an ancient helmet washing up on shore during the Muromachi Period. There after these unusual helmets with chrysanthemum shaped plates, elegant brows and zaboshi began to appear. This is one of the finest examples we have ever seen.
