Age: Mid Edo period. Remarks: This original gusoku was owned by the Koide family for generations. Sold in the Meji era and exhibited in a museum in Kyoto, Japan this suit is a fine example. A period document describes the suit in detail and it's sale during that time period. A completely matched set of armor with leather sections and fabric matching throughout.
Historical:
Koide Hideharu (1539-1604) Koide Hideharu was a notable retainer under Toyotomi. Hideharu was married to the sister of the wife of Toyotomi Hideyoshi and was awarded with a 60,000-koku fief in Izumi. During the Battle of Sekigahara, during the year of 1600, Hideharu supported that of Ishiha Mitsunari. After the Sekigahara Campaign was over, Hideharu died 4 years afterwards.
