Historical: The Neo school of armor began in the Momoyama period when the works of Neo Masunobu became famous for his 120 plates Suji Kabuto. Masunobu is considered the founder of the Neo School which made armor until about the middle of the Edo period. The few rare works of the Neo smiths that remain show a high degree of precision, beauty and elegance.
The works of Masanobu are regarded "excellent" of which only a fraction of smiths are so considered.
