Item #: 638
Age: Early Edo period. Remarks: A Saotome School Hoshi Kabuto. The hachi has 25 rounded raised rivets in each of the 62 plates. Precise placement of each of the rivets as they ascend to the multi-staged tehen showcases remarkable workmanship. Although it is not signed it does exhibit certain characteristics of the Saotome School. The black lacquered fukigaeshi contrast well with the Menpo which is in good condition. This Kabuto and Menpo are original and reflects their appropriate age. High quality Hoshi Kabuto are becoming increasingly rare.
