Formally of the famous Hajime Fujita collection in Japan and published in the book "Shin Kacchushi Meikan" this signed Kabuto made by Shigeyasu is one of the few examples of his work that exists. Beautiful silver inlaid dragons adorn each side of this piece. This Eboshi style Kabuto is made of very heavy plates. It would make a fine addition to any armor collection.
History: The crest on this Kabuto belongs to a member of the Oda clan. They were a family of Japanese Daimyo dating back to roughly the 14th century, who were to become an important political force in the unification of Japan in the mid-16th century. Though they had the climax of their fame under Oda Nobunaga and fell from the spotlight soon after, several branches of the family would continue on as Daimyo houses until theMeji Restoration.
Oda Nobunaga (1534-1582) was a major Daimyo during the Sengoku Period of Japanese history. He was the son of Oda Nobuhide , a warlord with land holdings in Owari province. Nobunaga lived a life of continuous military conquest, eventually conquering most of Japan before his untimely death in 1582.
