The armor comprising a twenty-four-plate hoshi-bachi, three gilt shinodare (arrow-shaped decorative components) to front and two to rear, the gilt tehen kanamono with foliate scrolling, wide iron brim covered with stencilled leather with inscriptionHachiman, four-tier shikoro (neck guard) of honkozane (true scales), the roundedfukigaeshi black-lacquered with copper fukurin and with applied gilt double-fan mon, the black-lacquered menpo (facemask) with large bushy white moustache and chin-beard, the kebiki-odoshi (close-laced) nimaido (two-piece cuirass) lacquered brown and together with the waki-ita (underarm components) having gilt fukurin (edge rims), the five-tier honkozane black-lacquered kusazuri (skirt) with lower tier edged in bearskin, the haidate of russet chain mail with iron roundels, hyotan-sode (sleeves with gourd-shaped components) of russet iron, the tekko (hand covers) articulated with separate pieces for the second and third joints of the fingers, and a single plate for the four first joints, with applied gilt hoshi umebachi, triple katabami (oxalis) crests, and iron mokko crests with silver inlay, and on the thumbs dragonflies with gold-inlaid details, the silk all of richly colored and gold brocade
