SOLD - Stunning Red Lacquer Kabuto with matching Tengu Somen by Fukutake Ichiro. He was one of the last traditional armor makers in Japan skilled in the work of embossing. His work was of such high quality that many of his masks are now in collections of museums around the world, like the Metropolitan Museum of New York. He lived and worked in the Kurashiki area of Okayama prefecture during the middle to latter part of the 20th century. Most of his work were custom orders and were individual and unique.
Now deceased Ichiro worked in the Kurashiki region of Okayama perfecture. His face masks are works of art in their own right , they are equal to if not better than Edo period examples . many are in fact said to be on display in museums in Japan as 16th - 18 century examples.
His pieces are held in high regard and It would make a wonderful addition to any armor collection.
